I haven't written anything in a few days. It's hard when you really want to write about something, but everything on the internet is essentially public info, so you have to keep it to yourself. Not a very good feeling. So it's just better to keep quiet for a while until you've processed it. It may take a little longer to process, but nobody gets offended.
We still have a mystery illness that's plaguing our household. Cass has been under the weather for a week or so. I'm not feeling well either, and I keep saying it's the darn cedar allergy - but we've had rain that should have helped. I don't know what it is. I can't sleep at night, I don't feel like doing anything but napping during the day. I'm useless.
I'm going to keep Luke home from school tomorrow. It's partly because he's got the sniffles, but it's mostly because I just don't feel like doing "the routine" tomorrow. Isn't that terrible?
I don't think I'd do well in a true winter climate. I'm ready to have pool weather.

Speaking of pictures...
I just got around to getting the ski trip pictures off the camera.
I promise, I was there - even though there are no pictures of me. It's all Cass's fault.

Real Estate Agents
So, here's the question. Would you list your house with a real estate agent who is also a friend?
We don't have many close friends here in Austin/Round Rock. Actually, it's probably more fair to say we don't have any - just a bunch of friends, a few of which would fall into the "pretty good" category, as in we socialize with them once or twice a year. I really have only one friend here who I would call in case of emergency - she's the one down on all the kids' school forms. But we actually knew them from MSU, so they're kind of grandfathered in. There are a handful of people we'll keep in touch with if/when we move. Most of those are from Cass's work.
Anyway, one of our friends (non-Cass's-work) is a newly licensed agent. She's been working for maybe a little over a year. She lives in Cedar Park, which is way over on the other side of Austin from us (kind of like on the other side of the world - lol!). Cass has mentioned that if we were to put the house on the market, we should consider listing it with Real Estate Agent Friend. I'm not so comfortable with it. I'm not uncomfortable with her at all, just with having a friend work for/with us.
The main reason is that she doesn't know our area. There are several agents who live in our neighborhood, and they claim they "specialize" in selling our subdivision. In fact, there's one husband/wife team, and the wife does the house staging and the husband does the showing and selling. They have been sending me letters and info for years, to woo me in case we should put our house on the market.
The other reason is - do you watch Real Housewives of Orange County? (stop laughing) There was an episode in the most recent season where Vicki hired Jeana to sell her empty nester home. She bought it to downsize, then reconsidered and decided to stay in her ginormous house. Anyway, they've been friends a long time, and the business dealings between them nearly killed the friendship. All their ridiculousness made for good TV. :)
So, I guess it's obvious which way I'd answer that question. I'm not for mixing friendship and business. Cass may be leaning the other way, but I haven't really expressed my opinion to him yet. :)
In other news, Cass is visiting Blake and family this weekend. In true Cass fashion, he thought his flight yesterday left at 11:50am, when it actually was for 10:50am. So he missed the first one, got on a later one, and completely screwed up his schedule for getting there before dinner time. I assume he did arrive, because I got an email (about something else) from him late last night.

To my niece! She's 11.
The girls have tried to call a couple of times and can't get hold of her. So, Happy Birthday niece!
I'm next! LOL!

Shortest job interview EVER
I'm paraphrasing here (sort of):
Still no idea about salary/benefits. I guess he'll have to talk to their people about that. Just skip all that interview business. LOL!
He (computer game guru) mentioned in an earlier email that they'd want him to start in March or so. If the offer is equal to or better than what he has now, I'd say we're putting the house on the market around Spring Break.
Stay tuned....
Cass: what's the next step? I can interview any time in February.
Computer game guru: Nah, we don't need to interview you. You're it. Done.

22 Tables
Cass took Logan and Luke with him to lunch today to meet a co-worker.
At some point during the meal, Luke tells Cass, "Dad, I think there are 22 tables in this restaurant."
Of course, Cass had to count the tables. And there were 22.

1 Flu, 1 Mystery Virus
Cass and I got back last night.
Logan started running a temp after school on Friday. Cameron started sometime during that night. By the time we got home, Logan seemed better, but Cameron was down for the count. This morning, Logan's fever seems to be gone.
I took Cameron to the After Hours clinic this morning (somebody shoot me), and she got a positive flu test. We got some Tamiflu.
I hope Luke doesn't get it. He reacted badly to Tamiflu last time he took it, so he'll have to go without.
