I can't figure out how to work a programmable thermostat
Sometimes unpacking can be like opening Christmas presents - but most of the time it's a PITA
It can take up to 12 hours for the bubbles created by a jacuzzi tub to completely dissipate
Why is it that the packers can come in and pack my entire house in 9 hours, and it takes me 3 years to unpack and sort it out?

Hey! This sounds a lot like problems we've encountered in our moving years (wait, those aren't over yet, are they?!)! After our cross-country move, I have fixed myself here for quite a while! We've been in our house since April/May 2006 and STILL have boxes that have not been unpacked, pictures not hung, and partial paint "samples" in a couple of rooms (you know, we painted all the rooms the same and then started the decorating process from there... was this wise or not? Still trying to figure that out!)! It may be encouraging for you to know the good things: 'we' finally decided some of our furniture from our Anchorage house just doesn't fit (our New Age Farmhouse) and finally went out and bought a few different things (slowly, of course, over the last year) and OTHER THAN needing Joey's room and the dining room seriously arranged, our Master not finished (nor will be until Joey's room is started on AGAIN), and 2 opposing walls of Master bath need painting, same for Joey's room, and a few accents need adding here & there (pictures, etc.) - this house overall is a resounding success WAY beyond my expectations!
For bubble/jacuzzi problems? use either a) cheap conditioner or b) dilute some mineral oil and rinse the "soap" + residue with cold water and it is immediately gone! A little cleaning may be in order before the next bath, but not enough to balk at! The thing to learn to get the programable thermometer going your way will revolve around the date and time being programmed into it. From there, it seems like the possibilities open up! Moving familiy entertainment? everyone helps make sure all boxes for each room are nearby (if room is small) OR lining a single wall of the room; however, not anywhere the furniture delivery guys can't move furniture because of boxes "in the way" so your furniture can be put where you want it (except for the ONE wall to work around. It makes the house feel more like home more when done this way when the furniture arrives. What makes things a heck of a lot easier when it comes to getting your things out after they leave to make up beds and crash? Entertainment at it's purest form: a competition or game (whichever your family will go for) Every person (that can participate) looks at the box descriptions belonging to "their" room and must write numbers 1-4 (in order of the ones they think should be opened first - which should include sheets, bedding, clothes, etc.). Everyone gets to guess which 2 boxes will be the first 2 opened for the other rooms (that are not bedrooms). The one to get every/most boxes correct gets to a) pick the entertainment activity for the next available entertainment night OR b) even better - have money involved in order to sharpen the kids' future Vegas skills! ha ha! Kidding! Although it does really help when you can get the family involved in the box sorting and opening process without opening more than the initial few you NEED for each room!
One other thing we really liked while waiting on furniture - our now "event" chairs and love seat (the fold-up type with a carrying 'case') we bought and hung out in while watching DVD's on the laptop (still do this while remodeling Starkville house) that sits on top of the food cooler.
I feel a great deal of empathy and compassion for you guys right now, although I'm sure you guys have your own cool way of handling moves since you've moved several times in the last decade yourselves!
